1. Elliot’s Beach

3. Muttukadu Boat House
Muttukadu boathouse is situated on the ECR stretch, in the outskirts of Chennai. Very famous for boating on the backwaters, Muttukadu has a water sport facility offering rowing, wind surfing, water skiing, and speedboat riding. It is located at a distance of 36 Kms from the city and will be a perfect getaway during summer.
4. Covelong Beach
Covelong Beach is one of the classy and clean beach locations around the vicinity of Chennai. This calm and gentle beach is just a half an hour drive along the ECR and you suddenly find yourself in a different world.
It is one of the few places in the East Coast where wind surfing takes place. This place has Surf point, and you can beat the heat with an enthralling surf on the water. It is located 40 kilometers south of Chennai, on the East Coast Road en route to Mahabalipuram.
5. Pulicat Lake
This small seashore destination is one of the perfect locations for a short trip from Chennai. Located on the barricade of Sriharikota, which divides the Lake from the Bay of Bengal, it offers a delightful and an exciting experience.
It is one of the best places for bird watching in the vicinity of Chennai city and at the same time one can experience the memorable boat riding in Pulicat Lake. Located at a mere 55 kilometer distance from Chennai, it is an ideal location for a getaway.

If you are looking for a destination which will put you right in the lap of Mother Nature, then Yercaud is the place to be at. It is located in the Salem district at an elevation of 1,515 meters above sea level and is also called as the jewel of the South.
Yercaud Lake, surrounded by the gardens and woods provides you with a retreat in the summer. It is an ideal getaway for a weekend trip. Other places to visit are Killiyur waterfalls, Bear’s cave, Pagoda Point, rose garden and many more. It is located at a distance of 370 kilometers from the city.

If you are looking for a leisure trip longer than two days during summers, then Ooty and Kodaikanal are your best bet. The season is right and the weather is pleasant.
The “Princess of Hills” or ‘The Gift of the Forests’ is a great place to absorb oneself in the fresh and green picturesque surroundings the nature provides. It is the second most important hill station in Tamil Nadu and one of the most visited place as a weekend getaway.
It offers many scenic visuals and exciting waterfalls which for sure are a treat to one during the summer. Other interesting places of visit in Kodai are the Pillar Rocks, Rose Gaden, Bryant Park, Coaker’s Walk and Kukkal caves. It is located at a distance of 518 kilometers from the city.
The Queen of Hill Stations, the most important hill station in the state of Tamil Nadu, Ooty has been a popular summer getaway since colonial times. Ooty has developed plenty of activities to entertain all age groups.
From the thrill of a horse race to a scenic ride on the Nilgiri Mountain Railway, you’ll find it all here. Other places of interest in Ooty are the Botanical Gardens, Rose Gardens, Ooty Lake, Picnic at Wenlock Downs and Stone house. Located at a distance of approximately 560 kilometers, Ooty serves as perfect vacation location.
