7 Tips To Stay Safe During Chennai Rains

Written by Team Urban Tree

After a decade, the city has been hit by severe storms followed by hours of rainfall and killing about 200 people! (May their souls rest in peace). Here is a comprehensive list of tips that everyone can use during periods of heavy rain and intense thunderstorms:

1. Look before you step:
Walk-Carefully

Take that extra precaution while walking during heavy rains as the floor and stairs are more likely to be slippery and you might break a bone or two if you do not exercise caution. On roads that are covered with water, you will not have an estimation of where the ground is. Step with caution here and save yourself from injury.

2. Open windows for proper ventilation:

Also, it is advisable not to use corded phones during heavy lightning and thunderstorms as lightning might hit the telephone lines and turn out to be harmful. Always use cordless phones or mobile phones in such situations!
